My Favorite Maine Eats

If you haven't had the chance to visit Maine, you need to change that right now! It has some of the best food on the east coast!

I’ve been going to Maine since I was a little girl, going on day trips up the coast to Kittery, York or Ogunquit. It was a short drive up the highway for us, but felt like another world entirely. As I got older and got my own car, I started exploring more of Maine myself. Yet, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of this massive state. The more I see, the more I want to explore.

It’s hard to choose a few of my favorite places, but I will narrow it down:

Bob’s Clam Hut

Let’s start in Kittery. I love a good hole in the wall. The places you drive by, but aren’t quite sure if it’s worth stopping. Well, Bob’s Clam Hut is worth the stop. If you’re looking for some delicious fried seafood and other coastal Maine comfort food, Bob’s is the place for you.

Located right next to the outlets, this was a family favorite during the summertime. After doing some back to school shopping we would order a plate of fried clams and dig in. It’s a casual place, with indoor or outdoor seating. You really can’t go wrong when you order anything here!

Robert’s Maine Grill

If you’re looking for more of a restaurant experience, Robert’s Maine Grill is right across the street. They have a delicious menu and raw oyster bar. Offering local oysters from all around New England. My favorite though, is the lobster roll. A delicious, buttered bun piled high with fresh lobster. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Served with fries and pickle spear. It’s an unmatched combination.

Mash TUN

Maine is all about seafood, but they also have so many local farms. At Mash TUN in Portland they serve grass-fed burgers, tacos, local oysters, and fresh produce. You get the best of all of Maine in one stop. The goodness doesn’t stop at the food either, they have 35 beers on tap and an assortment of cocktails to choose from.

If you’re like me and want it all this is the place for you. I was torn between a lobster roll and burger, but Mash TUN made it easy for me, serving up both. I got a burger topped with fresh lobster. Yes, let me say it again; a burger, topped with lobster. All I’m saying is you have to try it.

The Thirsty Pig

The Thirsty Pig is it! This is the brewery of my dreams. Housemade sausages and local beer. That’s it. That’s the dream.

Located in downtown Portland, the Thirsty Pig has the best patio around. With countless outdoor tables surrounded by lush greenery, it’s the perfect place to stop for a drink. You can also never go wrong with some delicious Maine beer.

The Stadium

Going up further north to Bar Harbor, we’ve got the Stadium. This place has delicious sandwiches and baked goods. It’s perfect to go to sit by the gorgeous waterfront. My favorite is the blueberry crumble. If you want to take it to the next level, grab an ice cream at one of the many ice cream shops and top off your delicious blueberry crisp!

Industrial Way, Portland

Ok let’s add one more brewery…or how about four! I’m all about experiences and Industrial Way is a treat! Allagash Brewing Company, Foundation Brewing Company, Austin Street Brewery and Battery Steele Brewing are all located on this one road. All of them have fantastic outdoor seating, with lawn games. Each one has their own food truck too, offering up some of Maine’s most scrumptious foods.
