3 Ingredient Raspberry Jam

Making raspberry jam is super easy, all you need is 3 simple ingredients and about 20 minutes!

Recently I went raspberry picking at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, MA! It was so much fun...but we had a mishap with some squished raspberries. Instead of being bummed we decided to turn raspberries into jam (not sure why the saying is make lemons into lemonade, when there’s jam).

I learned it’s actually insanely easy to make jam. All you need is 3 ingredients!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup of raspberries

  2. ¼ cup of sugar

  3. ¼ tablespoon of lemon juice

For cooking the jam I used a 1 to ¼ ratio. If you have 1 cup of berries you use ¼ a cup of sugar, and ¼ a tablespoon of lemon juice. Be sure to taste your jam as you go, you might need to add more sugar based on how tart your berries are. Since mine were freshly picked they were super sweet and really didn’t need that much sugar!

Even making the jam is simple!

Cooking directions!

  1. Bring raspberries to a boil.

  2. As the berries are coming to a boil, smash them up with a potato masher or spoon or whatever utensil really.

  3. Cook for 4 minutes.

  4. Reduce to a simmer

  5. Add the sugar and lemon juice.

  6. Bring back to a boil.

  7. Cook for 4 minutes.

  8. Jar in a sterilized container.

  9. Cool in the refrigerator for a few hours, overnight is ideal.

  10. Serve how you like it!

The final product isn’t as gelatinized as a jam you’d pick up at the store. That’s because we didn’t use any pectin, which is what solidifies jams and jellies. However, lemon juice is a natural pectin, which is why the jam is more solid than just mushed berries!

The jam is absolutely delicious, even more so because you made it yourself! I love to put it on a warm buttery croissant, or vanilla ice cream with a touch of hot fudge.
